Orphans & Widows Sponsorship Programme…………

This is one of our latest projects that has been set up, we are sponsoring 66 orphans families with an amount of £12.50 monthly, with the intention of easing their financial circumstances. We have also made provisions for the orphans to acquire basic Islamic Education on a regular basis. 50 of these families have been sponsored by the Ummah Welfare Trust, Bolton and the remainder 16 by M.W.I.

60 couples get married…………….

Sunday 20th May will remain a day to remember in the lives of 60 couples, for this was the day when by the financial assistance of the Muslims of the UK, 60 couples were married. Situated approx. 20 kms from the historical City of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, the village of Virochan nagar is home to many Muslim families. The level of poverty is to such an extent that many parents cannot afford to get their daughters married. Each couple was gifted the basic necessities to start a married life such as a sewing machine, wardrobe, utensils, suitcase, clothes etc. Cost per couple worked out at £150, total project cost was £9,000. Brothers & Sisters associated with Tayyabah Mosque, Bolton, donated towards the cost of 25 of these weddings. Guest of Honour was Hazrat Moulana Gulam Mohammad Vastanwi, Principal of Darul Uloom Akkalkuwa.

4 Widows Houses Allocated……………..

The M.W.I. had received an amount of £6,000 from the 1st Ethical Charitable Trust. We decided to provide homes to 4 widows & their children and therfore purchased 4 houses at Sarkhez in Ahmedabad at a cost of £1,500 each. The houses were officially handed over to the widows on Tuesday 17th April by Mufti Abdul Hamid of Blackburn Lancs. Who visited Ahmedabad on the invitation of the M.W.I. During his stay, Mufti Saheb also visited other projects of the M.W.I.

BANGLADESH

Couple sponsored for Haj…….

The Hajj (Pilgrimage) of the year 2006 will be well remembered by one very special couple. The M.W.I. had been approached by a family from the Midlands who offered to pay the entire cost for a needy couple of Bangladesh to visit the Holy Lands for Hajj. Our partner organisation in Bangladesh proposed a couple who had spent most of their time in the service of Islam who were leading a very simple but pious life on a very low income. The couple had no words to justify their happiness & joy when the news was relayed to them regarding their being chosen to perform Hajj, thanks to the generosity of a couple from the UK.
The couple performed the Hajj and returned back to Bangladesh safely after spending one month in Saudi Arabia. Total cost was £3,600.

If you have been gifted with wealth and have already performed your Hajj, why not take the opportunity to send a couple from Bangladesh to the Holy Lands, what a wonderful gesture it would be on your behalf and the rewards would be enormous, please contact us for more details.

25 Couples get married………..

On Sunday 17th December 2006, our second Group Weddings Programme took place in Bangladesh. On this occasion, 25 couples were married at Nandail in the Mymenshing District. Each couple was gifted with £150 worth of basic necessities to start a married life such as a sewing machine, utensils, clothes and household furniture. Each couple was also given a cow for income generation purposes.

Adoption Update

One of the greatest concerns to the M.W.I. was the plight of Muslim children who were removed from their families due to unfortunate circumstances. There was a need to highlight the issue and encourage Muslim couples to come forward to consider adoption & fostering. It is pleasing to report that many couples are now coming forward and a number of families have now adopted children in Blackburn and other towns & cities. Our latest `UNITY` magazine, Issue No.112, presents an update with 2 real life stories on adoption.
